The Philanthropist
The Philanthropist ist eine amerikanische Action-Drama-Serie, die am Mittwoch, dem 24. Juni 2009, auf NBC uraufgeführt wurde. Das Programm war eine limitierte Sommerserie, die hauptsächlich in Südafrika gedreht wurde. Es öffnete sich zu starken Einschaltquoten, sah aber in den folgenden Wochen einen Rückgang der Zuschauer. The Philanthropist ist eine Produktion von Carnival Films in Zusammenarbeit mit The Levinson / Fontana Company und Original Media. Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Peter Horton, Charlie Corwin, Gareth Neame und Teri Weinberg fungierten als ausführende Produzenten.
Am 21. Oktober 2009 wurde die Serie von NBC abgesagt. Die Versuche der Fans, die Sendung über Facebook und eine gemeinnützige Organisation namens "Save The Philanthropist through Charity" auf Sendung zu halten, blieben erfolglos.
