Jesse McLaughlin erbt das Haus seiner Familie. Als er seinen neuen Besitz in Augenschein nimmt, wird er neugierig und beginnt seine Ahnenreihe zurückzuverfolgen. Dabei stößt er auf seinen Ur-Ur-Großvater “Gramps”. Während seines abenteuerlichen Lebens hatte dieser einen aztekischen Kristallschädel entdeckt der magische Kräfte besitzt und ihn mit in sein Grab genommen. Als Jesse das Grab öffnet, entdeckt er mehr als er sich in seinem kühnsten Träumen vorstellen konnte: Sein Ur-Ur-Großvater lebt… und scheint nur auf ihn gewartet zu haben.
