Mexiko im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert: Ignacio de la Torre heiratet Amada, die Tochter des mexikanischen Präsidenten Porfirio Díaz und legt damit den Grundstein für eine steile Karriere in der Politik. Doch Ignacio hat ein Geheimnis: Er ist schwul und Mitglied in einem geheimen Club von homosexuellen Männern. In diesem Club lernt er Evaristo Rivas kennen und verliebt sich in ihn. Doch dann kommt es bei einem Ball des Clubs zu einer Razzia der Polizei.
